If you’re new to church, we know it can be a bit daunting - but there’s no need to worry

We’re just ordinary folk who meet to worship and learn about Jesus together. You’ll see people just like you and you can be sure of a warm welcome. There’s no need to dress up - just wear what makes you comfortable!

What does a service look like?

Sunday morning services are the best if you’re just starting out. Everyone meets together - including the children - at 10:30 am and we sing a hymn or song to begin our worship. After that, there will be a short prayer and then the speaker will talk to the children about the theme of the morning’s teaching. We then sing another song and the children go out to their own activities. We have a creche for the little ones (you can take them out to this and still watch the service on TV), there is SPOTLIGHT for kids of Primary school age, and ENGAGE for young people.

Back in the main service, there will be a Bible reading, some more songs and then a message based on the Bible passage. We close with a hymn and a blessing. Once the main service is over, we meet in the back halls for refreshments and a chance to get to know each other.

What is communion?

You will sometimes hear that the church will be taking ‘Communion’ at the end of our time together. This is a special time when we particularly remember the sufferings and death of the Lord Jesus on the cross. We take a small piece of bread to remind us of the body of Jesus which was nailed to the cross, and drink a small glass of wine to remind us of the blood that was shed in order to save us from our sins. Everyone is welcome to stay with us for this time, but we ask that only those who truly know the Lord Jesus as their Saviour, take the bread and wine. If you don’t understand, or would like to know more, there are booklets at the back of the church to help you - or just talk to one of the church leaders.
